On May 10th four members of our Club headed for Caesar's Windsor Casino in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, for our annual District Conference where we celebrated District Governor Paul's year of service to our Clubs and our Clubs' service to their local communities and to the world.
We heard many inspiring speakers including our District Youth Exchange Students; Jennifer Jones, Former Vice President of Rotary International; Michael Angelo Caruso, communications consultant and trainer at Rotary Youth Leadership Awards; Chris Porman, a social media specialist; and author Doug Griffiths, author of 13 Ways to Kill Your Community.  Doug adapted the points in his book into a talk on "13 Ways to Kill your Rotary Club".
Other highlights of the weekend included the hospitality room, some fantastic meals including a meet and greet luncheon, a House of Friendship where clubs showcased their activities and projects, presentations by some of our District member clubs who told their stories of life changing projects, a Club Presidents' Elect and Presidents' Nominee Reception, a very impressive opening flag ceremony, and our annual awards presentation of the COG Awards, the Archer Awards and the Hedke Awards.  We were surprised and excited when the Canton Club was awarded the Membership portion of the Hedke Award.  Thanks to all of our members for making the Canton Club a part of this year's awards' ceremony.
Next year's District Conference will be held at Kalahari Resort in Ohio on May 15 - 17, 2020.  Please mark your calendars now to attend this celebration of John Chambers as District 6400 Governor and Lisa Kennedy as Canton's Club President.
