Canton Therapeutic Recreation Staff.

Today Cheryl Stec and Jennifer Girard from Canton Township Leisure Services spoke to us about Canton's Therapeutic Recreation Program.
We met at noon at Antonio's and heard from member Larry Oldford regarding our high school Vocational Scholar, Joshua Ruby.  He will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship from the Club at the Plymouth High School awards ceremony on May 22nd.  Joshua will be attending Washtenaw Community College where he will study auto mechanics and practical law.  Joshua will be invited to attend an upcoming Rotary meeting where we will have the opportunity to get to know him and to congratulate him personally.

Guests today were Ed Schulz from the Plymouth Club (It was pizza day.), Jennifer Girard and Cheryl Stec from Canton Township Leisure Services, and Marlette Anquetil, a future new member. Welcome everyone.

Jennifer and Cheryl talked about Canton Township's Camp Able and Leisure Club, both of which serve the special needs population of Canton Township.  Camp Able uses the Cherry Hill Schoolhouse for their summer camp which can accommodate 20 students ages 8 - 16, per session,  and Camp Leisure Club can accommodate 30 individuals ages 15 and up per session.  Here is a link to one of the webpages for Therapeutic Recreation - http://www.cantonfun.org/135/Therapeutic-Recreation.

Thank you Jennifer and Cheryl for sharing the details of this program with us.
